FOTD-- sorry I was MIA

Hi. Dayna here-- you may have forgotten who I am seeing that I have been pretty lame about keeping up with my blog. So I finally forced myself to do a FOTD today so you wouldn't completely forget me.

Just colored my hair today-- dark ash brown. My hair definitely goes red so every so often I have to hit it with a little ash to tone it down. Seeing that winter is coming to an end, I wanted to get another dark coloring in since I tend to go lighter in summer.

Feb. 21- FOTD
Serious Skin Care A-primer-- I'm trying to use up the last little bit of this. I actually use primer more in winter than summer-- counter-intuitve but for me I like a primer to seal in some of the moisture in my skin. I always like how my less dry summer skin holds MMU better and looks more natural.

Foundation- Dayna-- it's maybe a tiny bit peachy/dark but the days are starting to lengthen and warm up so I'm guessing I'm at my lightest and will soon be a match in no time. It's not an obvious mismatch- as you can see in this photo... doesn't look like the wrong head is attached.

Foundation was applied with MMBB new Neroli/Rose/Caffeine spray. You know I love MMBB sprays. This one has all kinds of goodness in it for my dry skin. Definitely rose scent. I like it but still partial to the crisp grape smell of the concord grape spray.

Sweetheart blush and Illumination Glow

Eyes- Just Browsing Brown for brow fill, Luscious all over lid below crease. Summer Highlight inner corner and brow highlight. Purple Haze outer corner. Lined with HIP Eggplant liner and then topped with e.l.f seal and Poy-ple. Bottom waterline e.l.f. ivory gel liner. Maybelline Full N Soft mascara.

Lips- NYC Lipstain in Persisten Pink-- I really like this one-- definitely a pink stain and prefer their tip-- longer and pointier to other lipstains I have. Topped with Sally Hansen Diamond gloss.

I'm still "assistant track coach" so I spend several hours each weekday doing that. Plus DD is trying hurdles out this year and coach usually has special  practice at local university track for those on Saturday. She still doesn't have drivers license so I go with her and get a workout in. Yesterday we made some hurdles for her to practice with out of PVC pipe. We also went to prom dress store on Saturday to get idea of what kind of prom dress she wants. She's thinking sweetheart neckline (strapless) with ruching (slanted) along bodice with it form-fitting to below hips-- somewhat mermaid style. She's very thin through the hips so this gives her the illusion of hips and more curves. Non-form-fitting dresses worked but just tended to make her look thin and delicate. She hates poufy prom dresses. It was fun shopping with her.

We recently got the pole vault pit back out. I've done a little training twice this week. I not very good but I am having fun which is the important thing.

Must get this posted and head out to track practice. I have lots of stuff that I need to blog about- African Black Soap being the latest thing

FOTD as I get lighter

Ah, winter is coming and I have had to change foundation color. I started using Dayna for this look. It was a tad light so I warmed it up with a light dusting of Beach using a very large, fluffy brush. I also notice that my winter skin starts looking dull. I tend to have dry skin but in the summer it's not so bad because it's usually pretty humid- even when we are in drought conditions, we still have humidity- so my skin is nearly normal in summer. As fall settles in, the humidity drops and I find my skin craving moisture- it's back to lots of emu oil but it still tends to look a bit dull. You may notice more fine lines than summer shots because of the lack of moisture in skin-- note to self-- drink more fluids. So I grabbed one of my glows- Peachy Sheen- to perk it up.
I used Earthy Girl for my brow fill since it's a little redder than my usual Just Browsing Brown because I went with a slightly redder, darker hair color. (I also got my hair cut a couple of weeks ago- more on that in  a bit although pulled back in a very short ponytail here.) I applied Apricot Dreamzzz all over my lid and then Sterling Violet to the middle of the lid blending up into crease. I used e.l.f. Gunmetal liner (for Tee) and then did outer corner with a little Purple Haze. (I tend to shy away from grays but both Sterling Violet and Purple Haze are every so slightly purple which seems to work better for me.) Max Factor 2000 Calorie Extreme Mascara finished off the look. BTW- DH says "Did you do something different with your eye makeup?" Can you believe he notices such a thing? I start explaining what was different and he blurts "I like it." I think he wanted to let me know he liked the new look (grayer colors) but didn't want to actually HEAR about it. LOL

On my lips I used Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain (see previous post) and topped with NYC Lippin' Large gloss in Mulberry (I think of Tee on this one because it's a sheer red gloss- a little red but not too much color for us faint of heart lip color girls.)

So a couple of weeks ago I got my hair cut-- it was getting long and I was always wearing it up in a ponytail. I took some photos of hairstyles I liked and stylist picked one of Ellen Barkin as the one she liked most. It looked really cute when she did it- I looked like a rock star- LOL- but I'm not really loving it now. I really like the back but she really made the angling towards face quite dramatic- so the back (nape of the neck) is about 1.5 inches shorter than the front. I kind of wanted this to be more subtle because in all honesty I'm really lazy about doing my hair. I love edgy cuts-- my hair looks HORRIBLE if it is blunt cut- but this pronounced difference in length back to front doesn't look great with Ms. Wash N Wear Hair. Next time I go in for a cut, I will have length taken off only the very long  front parts-- so it is slightly angled, long layers, and edgy- yet works with my lazy, lack of ever trying hairstyling. Note to self- make sure to reapply SOME kind of lip product before taking photos!!

FOTD's

So here are three looks from last week.

All are using Dayna's Minerals unless otherwise noted. Foundation in Tanya applied damp using MMBB Grape Spray & buffer brush. Sweetheart blush. Earthy Girl as brow fill since I dyed my hair and it's more reddish than during the summer.

Oct. 19
Eyes- Buttered Up all over lid. Copious Copper applied to middle area below crease. Darkest Chestnut Brown over e.l.f. sealant. Maybelline Full N Soft mascara.
Lips- Revlon Just Bitten in Forbidden topped with NYC Carnegie Melon

Oct. 21-

Illumination Glow to highlight cheeks.

Eyes- Everything's Rosy inner 1/2 below crease, Empress' New Clothes (ENC) middle below crease, Poy-ple lash lines. MMBB Prune Pencil to do waterline & top lashes. Summer Highlight in inner corner and brow highlights. Maybelline Full N Soft Mascara

Lips- Revlon Just Bitten in Forbidden topped with clear gloss

Oct. 22

Going for smoky look I saw in latest Victoria's Secret Catalog.

Eyes- Cocoa Nut applied first at middle of lid and then blended inward and outward. Next Summer Highlight was applied to inner corner and brow highlight. Miss Gigi applied middle to outer lower lash line. Espresso Yourself applied with liner brush along upper and lower  outer half of lashes. Then loaded a soft shadow brush with Espresso Yourself and applied to outer part of eye and blended concentrating deepest color along lash line. In The Flesh applied to inner corner for added shine. Max Factor 2000 Calories Extreme .

Lips- e.l.f. mineral gloss in Trendsetter.

Catching up on FOTD & mini reviews on a few products.

I admit that I have been VERY bad about getting FOTD photos lately and part of it is due to the fact that I haven't done a blog on the ones I have already taken photos of. So I'm going to catch up on FOTD so that maybe I'll be more inclined to take photos going forward.

All looks using Dayna's Minerals unless otherwise noted. Tanya  Foundation damp with MMBB buffer brush and Grape spray. Beach Bronzer applied with large fluffy brush in 3/E motion-- forehead/cheeks/jaw
Just Browsing Brown for brow fill.

In many of the looks I use e.l.f. seal end of Prime & Seal eye product. This product is $3 and I love the seal end. I use it by drawing a clear line of the product along the lash line and then topping with my favorite minerals using a clean, dry brush. As far as the Prime end-- it's concealer colored and does not help at all as a primer. I actually find that my eye shadows crease more using this than without it. I could see it being used as concealer but I rarely use concealer in my eye area-- I don't seem to suffer from dark circles. (Don't be hating!!)  I'd pay $3 just for the seal part so it is a worthy purchase even though the prime end is essentially worthless to me.

Aug. 24-- (TOLD YOU I WAS BAD!! That is the latest date that I've taken photos/marked down in my makeup diary)
Blush: Pretty In Peach
Eyes: Apricot Dreamzzz all over lid. Cocoa Mauve in crease/outer V. Sappharine topping e.l.f. seal line (Prime & Seal see orange text for review) Summer Highlight for brow and inner corner highlight. Maybelline Full N Soft Mascara
Lips: elf plumping in Mauve Berry.

Aug. 19-
Blush: Pretty In Peach
Eyes: Everything's Rosy all over lid below crease. Cocoa Mauve in crease/outer V. In The Navy topping e.l.f. seal. Summer Highlight for brow and inner corner highlight. Maybelline Full N Soft mascara.

Lips: Revlon Just Bitten lip stain in Twilight. I'm not into "Twilight" craze at all but did decide to try out Revlon lipstain with balm on other end. I opted for Twilight color and I absolutely LOVE this lip product. Twilight is a berry my lips but better color on me. It makes my teeth look very white. This wears very well without feeling the least bit heavy. I kind of use it as a liner and then smudge into the lips. I top with any gloss or balm because it doesn't come off like most stay put lip products. I plan to do a full review of this product soon!! Topped with Avon Honey Delight- (Plump Pout)

Aug. 11
Blush: Sweetheart
Eyes- Rose Gold all over lid below crease. Miss Gigi in crease/outer V. Summer Highlight as brow & inner eye highlight. Tealy over elf seal. Max Factor 2000 Calories Extreme Mascara

Lips- elf plumping in Mauve Berry

Aug 10
Blush Sweetheart
Eyes- Everything's Rosy all over lid below crease. LE in crease. Brazilian Brown as liner. Maybelline Espresso liner pencil in waterline.
Maybelline THE FALSIES mascara-- I had heard great things about this mascara but I was very disappointed in it. I expected volume and didn't see nearly as much as my favorite mascaras like Maybelline Full N Soft or Max Factor 2000 Calories Extreme. =( Length but little volume plus immediately straightens my lashes even after curling.

Lips- Avon Perfect Wear in Eternal Rose.
