5 Pairs of Jeans for ???

Since I got my Fit Flop Super Boots Tall last week, I decided to actually look for a pair of skinny jeans. *Gasp!!I know, hard to believe* So Monday before going grocery shopping I stopped by the mall on my way (I am literally 2 miles from the mall, you'd think I'd spend my life there.) and hit Old Navy. I found a pair of skinny jeans in "The Sweetheart" in the main area- are skinny jeans going out?? there didn't seem to be many choices offered-Then I saw some clearance racks in the back of the store. So I grabbed a pair of velvety black clearance ones along with said Sweetheart ones & headed to the fitting room. Surprisingly both fit- but I have to say I was not exactly comfortable in them.. I really don't like how cloying skinny jeans feel all the way down the leg. I'm used to my thighs feeling like sausages in casing but not my calves and ankles. So I look at the prices and Sweetheart ones are $29.95 whereas clearance ones were $7.98- I'm not particularly comfortable wearing said skinny jeans other that with tall boots so do I really want to plunk down $30 for a single pair?. Hmm, maybe I can find a pair of jean material ones on clearance??? So back to the clearance rack to scour it for more skinny jeans. Eventually found a pair of skinny jeans in "The Flirt" and a pair of of black ones with zippers at the ankles in "The Rocker" which I actually went up a size because this particular one seemed smaller sized- with a zipper all of 2 inches long-- I didn't want to tear anything trying to get them over my rear. While looking for these bargain skinny jeans I notice the sign saying "Take an additional 40% off" so that definitely made me opt for clearance ones- bye, bye "The Sweetheart" hello 3 pairs of jeans for about the price of one.

Then I thought, maybe daughter would like a pair of skinny jeans to pair with her leather boots she got for Christmas. She is a tiny thing but has never ventured into the world of skinny jeans because she didn't find them flattering. So in her size I found a pair of "The Flirt" like my own and another pair with the price tag of $0.97!!! Gasp, could that REALLY be the price???

So I proceed to the checkout and immediately question whether said 97 cent pair of jeans is correctly priced. Clerk says "You will get them for 97 cents." Whoot!!! She scans in the price tag and says "Actually you get them for 58 cents." Yep, I got 5 pairs of jeans for under $36 including tax. Talk about hitting the shopping jackpot!!

  1. Love it! What a great deal you found.

I love Old Navy for their jeans. In fact, Old Navy is the place I usually buy my jeans because they fit so well on me. I even got the Hubster to buy some and he was amazed at how well they fit on him. You should get your DH to get some Old Navy jeans too. Hey, maybe he'll look great in some skinny jeans himself?! LOL I think Hubster would kill me if I purchased some skinny jeans for him. haha.

We need to see you in those jeans. ;-P Love the toes getting into those pics. haha.

  2. OMG! Dayna, I so envy you getting 5 pairs of jeans for that amount! I live in jeans (and shorts) although I am trying to venture out into khakis and other kinds of pants and getting a pair in my size is so difficult. I usually get mine from Mango and Zara during their sales bec. their styles look good on me. I always try to get Skinny jeans because I look slimmer in them. I do get a larger size so I could fit my thighs in them, ha ha. I just use a belt or have the waistband altered because they would gape open. However, even during sales, they still could be a bit pricey at half-off(maybe $20-$30 converted). I've always wanted to order jeans online from Old Navy but I am not sure of my size there. I do always get some of my tops and my hubby's pants/shirts and my DD's clothes from Old Navy coz it isn't difficult to find their sizes.

  3. Hey Nikki- I totally got lucky on looking for skinny jeans and finding them so cheap- I wasn't really thrilled to pay a lot in the first place since I don't particularly like the look/feel of skinny jeans. I have athletic legs & calves so skinny jeans aren't very becoming. I usually try to get jeans at about $30 max-usually get Levi's 515 since they seem to fit me pretty well- although I always like to try on because sometimes they just fit weird. I recently found Lucky Brand which I really like how they fit. They are normally nearly $90 but found at TJ Max for $33-every time I wear them DH is like "You look cute" so definitely a bargain at that price. Old Navy jeans can be hard to get the right size since they have several styles- "Sweetheart" (curvy- my choice) The Flirt (straighter through hips/thighs- DD's since she has almost no hips) and The Diva (low rise and uber stylish usually) to name a few. Usually Old Navy jeans are $30 and up.

  4. Tee- I often have fit issues with Old Navy jeans- big butt/thighs with small waist- even the Sweetheart ones usually gaped. Now that my thighs are finally catching up to waistline loss a bit, fitting is a little better but it's still my fit issue. I had ordered trouser jeans from Alloy before Christmas and they were a little snug in the thigh while the waist gaped-- not a good look. =/

DH is uber picky about his jeans. I actually picked up 2 pair of Levis-- one in 30" waist in current loose style (569) and one in 31" waist in relaxed style (559) 30" fit in waist but a bit snug on buttock. 31" looked like Chippendale dancer jeans-- really hugging the butt and thighs. He did NOT like. I've been given the OK to eventually buy 569's in 31 waist but am to return the ones I bought and just get $ back until he NEEDS new jeans. If he hated RELAXED could you imagine skinny jeans? He openly mocks the boys' friends if they wear skinny jeans. LOL So angry that Gap stopped making their baggy jeans- they were his jeans. I could just order and he was always happy.

  5. Jean fitting makes me think of when DH was getting tux for brother's wedding. Put him in a pair of pants the were correct waist size and OMG they were SO TIGHT on his thighs and butt. He started singing "Staying Alive" in a falsetto and dancing in front of the whole store. When the guy asked if they fit DH was really getting into it. =)

  7. Wore my skinny jeans today... not really loving-- they ride down- probably from my sausage thighs- so I'm always hiking them up. =/ But love the Fit Flop boots. =)

HP- I have never BOUGHT jeans for less than $1 before. That's why I was questioning whether the price was real. At 97 cents I would have taken them let alone getting another 40% off =)

  8. Dayna, guess what? I went to the mall earlier to get my DD sneakers for school and we have a store called Surplus Shop in malls here. They sell "overruns" of US branded clothes like Old Navy, Gap, VS, AE, etc. (If you noticed, some of them are made in the Phils.) Overruns - meaning they had minor flaws so couldn't be exported like a misprint in the tag (I saw shirts supposed to be for Wet Seal printed as "West Seal"). I've been lemming for those Old Navy Perfect Khakis or shorts for so long and they were available! My size is a 6 in the Perfect Khaki Bermuda shorts so I'm probably a 6 in their regular jeans too. The problem is the size- each pair of size 6 fit differently so I had to fit each one. Some were just right but some were a bit tight. I got 2 pairs (beige and dark green). I hope I can go back there and get the other colors. They were only Php350 or less than $8 each. I checked the website and the bermudas were $24.50 each!

  9. Awesome Nikki!!! I totally get your fit issue- I pretty much find that true of all pants- I HAVE to try on. DD recently got some trouser jeans (backorder) from Alloy and I seriously think they were mis-sized- she had 2 other pairs that fit perfectly but this style fit ME. I sent them back and the next pair was the same way-I think it's like your West/Wet Seal example. Wrong tag sewn in so I didn't want to bother trying to figure out size since smaller size may not solve the problem.

  10. 58 cents? are you kidding me? :D
How are the Fit Flop boots? They sell those in Norway too but I´ve not tried them. Warm? Good grip on winter conditions? Water resistent?

  11. MarsG- YEP 58 cents. This will be a very tough bargain to ever surpass.

I like the FF boots. Comfy but not so much warm since these are just plain suede. I did treat them to be water resistant but I wouldn't go plunging into puddles in them. They do offer lined and all leather ones. I don't wear a whole lot because I have to wear skinny jeans with them.
